We carry around five thousand lines in our shop. Many of these you could buy cheaper from a specialist internet store operating from an industrial park with consequently much, much, lower overheads than we have. So, we thought about this for a while, and came up with this: we are situated outside the European Union, and as such, are not, and cannot be, registered for Value Added Tax. (We have some really stupid politicians in Jersey, who are going to introduce GST - Goods and Services Tax - but this will not apply to exports.) Provided the value of a sold item is less than 25 euros, V. A. T. will not be payable on its entry into the EU. (Because of this, there will be no deduction of tax for goods going to other areas.) What we are doing, therefore, is putting a reduced range of items in our on-line store, but things that you may have difficulty finding in your locality. If possible, goods will be sent without unnecessary packaging - this saves waste, which we should all be striving for, and keeps the postage down , so that for the majority of the items we sell, postage and packing are included in the price.
